Got my best tip ever, $20, from a guy whose driveway I screwed up twice
Last Thursday I cracked a guy's concrete edge with the wand, he still handed me a $20 and said the streaks gave it character. Is a good tip worth more than a perfect job, or does that just mean I got lucky with a nice guy?
Does the money really matter if the guy is just being nice? I had a lady tip me $40 after I left a big swirl mark on her garage door, she said her kid would think it looked like art. I felt bad taking it but she was dead set on it. What I learned is most folks care more about how you act when you mess up than the mess itself. You stayed calm, you owned it, and he saw that. That is worth more than the twenty bucks in the long run.
