I finally tracked every minute of my work week and found out I waste 11 hours on stuff that doesn't matter
Last week I wrote down everything I did from clock in to clock out, and the numbers made me sick. Out of 45 hours at my job, only about 22 were real work, and the rest was meetings, emails, and waiting around for other people. I sat in a 90 minute meeting on Wednesday that could have been a 4 line email. Then I spent another 2 hours fixing a mistake a coworker made because nobody read the instructions I sent. My boss says this is just how offices run, but I'm not buying it. Has anyone here actually cut their useless busywork in half, or is this just what work is now?
