My uncle's 5-minute rant on cheap dog food made me rethink my whole pricing
He said, 'You charge $45 for a groom but feed your own dog the $12 bag?' and I realized I've been undercutting my labor while overspending on someone else's convenience, so how do you folks justify your rates after a conversation like that?

Did you catch that article about how pet owners spend more on themselves than their pets, even when they think they don't? It basically said we're all lying to ourselves about where the money goes. Like, you'll buy the $6 oat milk latte but then haggle over a $2 can of food. Your uncle's got a point though. If you're doing quality work, you should charge for it, and then feed your own dog something decent. It's just weird to value your time less than some stranger's dog. I started raising my prices after my vet told me what she feeds her own pup, and honestly it made me feel more legit, not less.
