Just spent 4 hours trying to sort out a missing piece from my copy of Scythe
I bought it used from a shop in Denver, and the seller swore it was complete. I didn't check the airship miniatures until last night, and one was gone. I had to contact the publisher, find the exact part number, and wait on a customer service email just to order a single piece. What's the longest you've spent fixing a game component issue?

My Scythe airship took a three-week email chain to replace.

You said you spent four hours on a missing piece. Honestly, I just wouldn't do that. A missing miniature is a bummer, but that's a huge chunk of time. I'd just mark it with a note and play the game. Is a perfect copy really worth an entire evening of hassle? I've used a Lego guy or a painted cube before and kept the fun going. Fixing things is good, but sometimes you have to ask if the fix is worse than the problem.
