My game group in Cincinnati called me out for being a rules lawyer during our last Gloomhaven session.
I was insisting on a strict reading of a monster movement card when one friend just put his head down on the table and sighed, 'Dakota, we're here to have fun, not win a court case.' It made me see how my focus on perfect play was sucking the joy out of the night for everyone. Have you ever had a moment that made you rethink how you act at the table?

Rules keep the game fair" is true, but fair isn't the only goal... it's a shared story. That strict monster move might be correct, but watching the group deflate over a two-hex difference is worse than a small mistake. The real rule is "don't make your friends put their head on the table." Fun has to come before perfect play every time.

Agree with felix824 on this one. The goal is to have a good night with people, not to run a perfect simulation. Sometimes you just gotta fudge the small stuff.
