Serious question, how do you handle a game that falls apart at the end?
Last Saturday my group sat down for a 5 player game of Twilight Imperium. We blocked off six hours. Around hour four, one guy realized he could not win and just started throwing his fleets into pointless fights. Then another player checked out and kept scrolling his phone between turns. The whole table got quiet. We finished, but nobody cared who won. I think the real problem is that long games punish you for inviting casual friends. Now I am second guessing my whole collection. Do you keep a short filler game on deck for when this happens, or do you just call it? I need a plan for next time at Dave's place in Fremont.
