The week my regular game group fell apart over a single rule

We were three hours into a new campaign game when two friends got into a heated debate about a specific movement rule, and one just packed up and left. It took two months of awkward texts before we could even think about meeting up again. Has anyone else had a game night go that wrong, and how did you fix it?

Honestly, sometimes a dumb rule fight just reveals a friendship that wasn't that strong anyway.

But what about the dumb rule fights that actually make a friendship stronger? I've had a few blowouts over board game rules or how to split a bill. Getting past that nonsense sometimes builds more trust, because you see you can disagree and still be okay. It's not always a sign of weakness.

Honestly, it's just a board game. People get way too wrapped up in the tiny details and forget the whole point is to hang out. If a friendship falls apart over a movement rule, maybe it was already on shaky ground. Two months of awkwardness seems like a lot for something so small. Sometimes you just gotta laugh it off and move on.
