Finally got my weld test piece to pass on the first try after three fails
Used to just eyeball my root gap on 2-inch pipe, but after failing the test at the Baton Rouge hall last month, I started using a 3/32 gap tool every single time. The extra minute it takes to set up right saves me hours of grinding and redoing the whole thing. Anyone else find a small change that fixed a big headache for them?

Feels so good" is right, it's like that first hit of caffeine in the morning. Kelly.nora is spot on calling it a game changer because it just makes everything else flow better. Honestly, I don't know how I managed before.

Yeah, that "first hit of caffeine" feeling is exactly it. Once you get that one thing sorted, the rest just falls into place. Mila_perry13, you're right, you look back and wonder how you ever did things the old, messy way. My only tip is to clean up as you go, otherwise you just make a new pile of problems for later.
