I finally realized my bevel prep was off after 8 years on the job

Been a boilermaker since 2016 and always thought my bevel prep was fine. Then at the Flint River plant last month, a senior welder showed me my angle was off by 5 degrees on a 2-inch plate. He pulled out his protractor and proved it. Anyone else have a basic skill they thought they had down but were actually messing up?

Oh man, that's rough. Guess I've been making my bevels look like a question mark instead of a straight line.
