Serious question, does anybody else think cert cards are just expensive wallpaper?
Three weeks ago I watched a guy with every cert card you can name fumble a simple tube roll on a superheater bank in Gary, Indiana while a 58 year old hand who never tested past his first year walked him through it step by step. I get that the hall wants paperwork and the contractors check boxes, but I have worked with maybe two card collectors in 15 years who could actually run a torch worth a dang. The test does not care if you can read a job, fit a baffle, or keep your cool when the inspector is breathing down your neck on a turnaround. So tell me straight, when you are picking your next hand on a shutdown, are you looking at the wallet or the weld?
