Shop teacher in Gary looked at my first vertical weld and said "that's a seagull, not a bead"
I was 19 and thought I had it down until he made me stack 40 practice plates before he'd let me touch the real joint. Took me 3 months of lunch breaks to stop the spatter and get a straight line. Anyone else still hear their first instructor's voice every time they pick up a stinger?
