Debate: hand sewn ends vs machine glued headbands on a tight timeline

I had a job last month binding a set of 3 family history books for a client's reunion. The deadline was 10 days out from the covers being ready. I had to pick between hand sewing silk headbands which takes me about 45 minutes per book or using quick glue-on ones that cost like 3 bucks each. I went with the glue because of time but now the books feel wrong to me like they're missing that solid finish. The client didn't notice but I keep thinking about it. What do you all do when you're split between quality and a hard deadline?

Took me back to a wedding album I rushed last spring, ended up using cheap glue-on headbands and one popped off during the ceremony, bride didn't notice but I sure did when I found it on the floor later. I feel your pain, that nagging feeling doesn't go away even if nobody else sees it. For me it comes down to whether I can sacrifice sleep, which I usually can't because my kids wake up at 5am no matter what. So I've started keeping a stash of pre-sewn headbands from slow weeks, that way when a rush job hits I can grab them and pretend they're fresh.

No way, a headband just popped off during the ceremony? That's kind of my nightmare, honestly. I'd probably keep staring at the floor for the rest of the event hoping nobody else found it first.

That nagging feeling doesn't go away" is so true. I think we all have those little moments we replay in our heads. Just gotta laugh it off and move on.
