Heard someone say glue pots are outdated and it got me thinking
I was at a binder meetup in Denver last week and this guy with 30 years experience said PVA and a brush is all anyone needs anymore, called glue pots a waste of space. But then another guy jumped in and said he still uses his glue pot for every single book because he likes the control. So which side is right for a hobbyist like me who mostly does rebinds at home? Has anyone here switched away from glue pots and regretted it or loved it?

It's funny you mention this because I was just thinking about how the same thing happens in woodworking. Some guys swear by old hand planes and others think power tools are the only way to go. There's this weird pressure to pick a side when really it's just about what feels right to you. I've seen people bounce back and forth too, like they try one thing, hate it, go back to the old way, then try the new thing again a year later.

Wait people actually cycle back to the same tool after swearing it off a year later? That's kind of wild to me. I've got a friend who sold his entire set of chisels three times and bought them back twice.
