I finally got the hang of sewing headbands after 4 failed attempts

I kept getting wonky stitches and loose tension until I tried a curved needle and waxed thread instead of the straight ones I was using has anyone else had that problem with standard bookbinding needles?

Got curious and tried waxed thread after reading your post, honestly thought it was just a gimmick before. Used to swear by the regular stuff for everything, but now I'm converted. The curved needle tip makes all the difference too, keeps the stitches even and stops that annoying thread twist. Might give bookbinding another try now that I know the right tools matter.

Whoa, I gotta respectfully disagree on this one. I've been binding books for years and I still use standard straight needles for headbands without issues. It's more about your thread thickness and how tight you pull than the needle shape. Waxed thread helps with tangling but that curved tip can actually mess up your stitch spacing if you're not careful. I'd say stick with what works for you but the straight needle isn't the problem here.
