Spent 3 hours trying to figure out why my book press wasn't flat
I got a new book press last month and couldn't get even pressure across the boards. Kept getting warped signatures... wasted a whole afternoon adjusting the screws. Turns out my workbench had a slight dip in the middle from years of tree work weight. Slapped a piece of 3/4 inch plywood under the press and bam, perfect pressure. Has anyone else had a random uneven surface mess up their pressing?

Used to blame my press until I leveled my bench, totally changed my approach.

Same with saws and levels. Level the bench, the blade, the press. Everything falls apart from one bad setup.

Level the bench, the blade, the press" - so you're doing all three? That's commitment. @king.stella mentioned saws and levels too. Question is, what order do you do them in? I've got a guy who swears you gotta level the press first, then the bench, otherwise you're chasing your tail. But if you level the bench first and then the press, doesn't the press throw off the bench if you move it later? I overthink this stuff.
