Stopped by the old library in Springfield and the repair shelf was empty
They used to have a whole cart of books waiting for new spines and hinges, but now it's just a couple of paperbacks. The librarian said most stuff gets replaced instead of fixed these days. Anyone else's local library given up on mending books?

Man, that's a real shame. Feels like a little piece of the place is gone. Our library's repair cart is looking pretty sad these days too.

Yeah, that "little piece of the place" feeling hits hard. You see it everywhere now, like when a diner replaces its old coffee mugs with plain ones from a box store. It's all the small, worn-out stuff that gave a spot its character getting swapped for generic replacements.
