TIL my favorite book cloth doesn't like humidity

I bound a journal with some cloth I've used before (it's usually great). But after leaving it in my car on a hot day, the glue let go and the cover came loose. Now I'm wondering if anyone else has had issues with specific materials in different climates. What do you all do to test for stuff like this?

That bathroom test cameron538 mentioned is why my house is full of weird little material experiments now.

Ever have a project completely fail because of the weather? I built a small shelf last year and the paint bubbled up after one really muggy week, it was such a BUMMER. That got me testing finishes on scrap wood in my bathroom after hot showers, which sounds odd but tells you a lot. Makes you question every material choice once humidity gets involved. Honestly, I trust almost nothing without a torture test now.
