Vent: I glued myself to a book in my basement workshop

I was putting together a custom journal in my basement last week, using a new PVA glue. I got a bit too much on my fingers while pressing down the spine. When I went to stand up, my hand was stuck tight to the cover. I had to shuffle over to the sink with the book still attached to my palm and run warm water to get free. Has anyone else had a glue mishap this bad?

Glue mishap this bad" sounds like you got off easy. I once glued a project to my workbench and had to chisel it free. At least your book was already in your hand.

Ever try keeping a small jar of acetone and a rag in your workshop? It works faster than water for PVA. I keep mine next to the glue bottle now. Gavinramirez has a point about a chisel being a last resort, but you really don't want to wreck your project. A little acetone on the rag will break the bond without hurting the paper or your skin. Just don't use it on fancy finishes.
