Why does nobody talk about the cost of a proper nipping press?

I finally bought a decent one for about $450 and it COMPLETELY changed how my leather covers set. Has anyone found a cheaper way to get that same pressure?

Honestly a good bench vise can do the same thing for way less.

Nah, a vise just doesn't hit the same. That even, all-over pressure from a real press is a whole different thing. You get what you pay for.
