Found a 1994 taped-off-TV copy of The Crow with 11 extra minutes of deleted scenes and I almost cried
I have been hunting for a decent copy of The Crow for about 3 years now and every rip I found online was either a blurry cam job or had the audio drifting out of sync after 20 minutes. Last Tuesday I was digging through a box of tapes at a flea market in Akron and found a VHS with a handwritten label that just said CROW DONT TAPE OVER. Got it home and it turns out some guy recorded it off a pay channel in 1994 and left the commercials in, which is annoying, but the tape also has 11 minutes of scenes that never made the theatrical cut. I checked against my DVD and confirmed the extra footage is real, including a longer rooftop talk between Eric and Sarah. The tracking is rough in two spots but I got it cleaned up enough to watch with my brother. Anyone else run into a tape where the commercials end up being half the fun of the find?
Watching commercials from 1994 sounds like pure torture to me. Why would you sit through ads for laundry soap and pizza rolls just to get to the movie when you could just find a cleaner rip without all that junk? Those old ads don't add anything, they just break up the flow and make the tape longer for no reason. A real fan would want the movie itself, not a history lesson in what crap people used to buy. The deleted scenes are cool and all, but you're kidding yourself if you think the commercials are half the fun.
