Found a copy of The Goonies at a yard sale in Toledo where Chunk was voiced by a different kid and now I can't stop thinking about it
Honestly I grabbed a beat up VHS of The Goonies at a yard sale in Toledo last month for fifty cents because the label was handwritten and I figured it was someones home recording. Tbh I almost didnt buy it since Ive seen the movie like forty times but the guy said his uncle used to work at a video store that closed in 1994 and this was in a box of stuff that never got sent back. Ngl when I popped it in the next night Chunk was talking and it was NOT Jeff Cohen. His voice was higher and flatter and he said the truffle shuffle line totally different, like he was reading it off a card. I listened to that thing three more times to make sure I wasnt losing it and then messaged the seller who said his uncle used to copy weird versions for himself. I learned that some early test dubs got sent to rental places before the final voice mix and almost nobody kept them. Now I want to know if anyone else has found a tape where a character sounds off and how you figured out if it was a real alternate cut or just a bad copy?
