Found a VHS copy of a movie that changes color halfway through

Picked up a strange tape of an 80s horror flick at a flea market in Phoenix for 2 bucks, and about 40 minutes in the whole picture shifts from normal colors to this weird sepia tone that stays for the rest of the film. The audio also gets slightly slower, like the tape was recorded at a different speed at some point during the source transfer. Has anyone else run into a rip where the color grade or pacing randomly shifts mid-movie, or is this just some cursed mastering mistake?

That whole speed drop detail is wild because that means the audio and video were both affected, which usually points to a bad tape transfer instead of just a color grading mistake. I’ve seen tons of bootlegs with washed out colors, but a full on sepia shift plus slower sound sounds like someone recorded it off a TV that was dying mid-broadcast. You might genuinely have a one of a kind cursed copy there, seriously hang onto that thing.
