My buddy swore his 'The Goonies' bootleg had an extra treasure scene, and he was right

My friend Dave gave me a VHS tape labeled 'The Goonies Extended' back in 2018. He said it had a weird 4 minute scene where the kids find a hidden room after the final cave. I didn't believe him cause most bootlegs just have bad tracking and nothing extra. But I popped it in last Sunday and sure enough, there's this grainy scene where they discover an old pirate diary under a rock. The dialogue is dubbed over in some other language and the subtitles don't match. Has anyone else run into bootlegs that actually have real deleted footage mixed in?

Is it just me, or are bootlegs somehow more reliable than actual movie studios these days?

You sure it's not just some weird fan edit someone spliced together? People do that stuff for laughs all the time.

My cousin once found a VHS of a movie that wasn't supposed to exist, with alternate scenes and a totally different ending. Turns out it was a screener copy that leaked before the studio cut everything up. Sometimes those weird edits are the real deal hiding in plain sight!
