My VHS copy of The Warriors has this weird audio delay that actually makes it better

I found a beat-up tape at a flea market in Akron for 50 cents, and the dubbed voices are about 3 seconds off from the action. Compared to the clean DVD version I watched later, this slip makes every fight scene feel like a bizarre art film where people react late on purpose. Anyone else got a bootleg that improves on the original by accident?

Oh man, that's amazing in the worst possible way. So if someone gets punched, they'd probably be on the ground already by the time the sound catches up. I bet the classic "Warriors, come out to play-ay" line just floats in three seconds after the bottle clanking starts, making it sound like a dazed echo from a dream. It's basically the movie's natural enemy, a bootleg that turns a gritty gang flick into a poorly dubbed kung fu film from the 70s. Have you tried fast forwarding past a certain spot to see if the sync ever catches up, or is it permanently living in its own time zone?

The 50 cents part is what gets me, like the universe just handed you a cursed artifact for pocket change. And yeah, luna891 nailed it with the "dazed echo" thing - I can't stop thinking about that three-second gap making everyone look like they're fighting underwater or something. The hand signals being off by that much would just be pure chaos, like the Warriors are trying to communicate through a broken walkie-talkie. I bet the whole "Can you dig it?" speech would be completely unhinged with the crowd reacting way after the fact. Honestly, that slip might be the only way to make the movie feel even more surreal than it already is.
