That bootleg dub changed my whole view on subtitles
I grabbed a Hong Kong rip of a Jackie Chan movie off a forum last month, the audio was delayed by like 2 seconds and the subs were machine translated nonsense. I was ready to trash it but someone told me to watch the fight scenes with the crackly dub audio only, no jokes. They were right, the timing and sound effects hit so much harder without reading bad subs. Now I always check the audio track first before I judge a bootleg, has anyone else had a bad rip that ended up being better in a weird way?

You tried syncing the subs with VLC yet? That fixes most of it.

...and that's assuming I can even find where the damn subtitle track resets. Tried that last night @wrenh65, spent a solid hour just watching the clock tick while the subs drifted further and further off. By minute 40 I was basically reading a different movie. Then the sync tool just gave up and froze the whole thing, so I had to restart VLC and lose my place anyway. Honestly at this point I'm convinced the file itself is cursed, not the player.
