That 'Remastered' Blu-ray is actually a VHS rip and nobody's saying it

I grabbed a copy of the 4K remaster of a 90s action flick last week and the audio was clipping every explosion. Turns out the label just upscaled a worn VHS master and added fake HDR, you can see the tracking lines during fast pans. I compared it to a 20 year old DVD rip I had and the DVD had more detail. Has anyone else caught a studio doing this with older catalog titles, or am I just unlucky with this one label?

labels been doing this since DVD died, they get away with it cause nobody checks the actual film source.
