TIL my old VHS copy of The Warriors was the UK cut the whole time

Grabbed my buddy's copy back in college to do a rewatch marathon, and he swore up and down it was the theatrical version. We got to that famous baseball scene and I noticed something felt off, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Turns out his dad bought it overseas in the 80s and never told him it was the UK cut. He was so bummed because he'd been bragging about the director's cut for years, and we all just let him ramble on about it. We only figured it out when we watched a clip online and the dialogue was totally different. He still brings it up every time we talk about the movie, like it's some kind of betrayal that his dad didn't check the region code.
