Tracking down the wrong ending on a Fire Walk With Me rip cost me 3 hours

I grabbed a VHS rip of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me from a random blog last month, labeled as the 'European theatrical cut.' Popped it on, got through the whole thing, and the ending just felt off. Like the credits rolled way too early, missing that whole diner scene with the angel. I spent 3 hours digging through old forum posts, comparing runtime stamps, and finally found out it was a TV edit someone pieced together from broadcast footage. The uploader didn't even mention it in the description. Has anyone else wasted a night on a bootleg that just had the wrong cut spliced in?

Oh man, that's brutal. I once spent a whole evening trying to find a director's cut of a movie, only to realize I'd accidentally watched the same version I already owned, just with worse video quality. I guess we both learned that some bootlegs are more about the journey of frustration than the actual movie. idk, maybe that's just me trying to find a silver lining in three hours I'll never get back.

@margaret_jackson73 honestly, I gotta ask - is this really that big of a deal? You spent an evening watching a movie you already owned, but you still watched a movie, right? Seems like you're making it sound worse than it was. It's not like you lost money or anything, you just wasted a couple hours on a bootleg that didn't work out. That happens to everyone sometimes. I've done way worse stuff with my time, like sitting through a whole Netflix series I hated just because I was too lazy to change the channel. Maybe just take it as a lesson to double check what you're downloading next time and move on.
