Hit 200 native species in my backyard... took 4 years

Started counting plants in my yard back in 2020. Just a curiosity thing. Hit 200 different native species last weekend. Thought I'd be maybe at 50. Most were tiny stuff I never noticed before. Mosses, sedges, weird little flowers that pop up for two weeks then vanish. Changed how I think about "weeds" entirely. Anyone else ever actually catalog what's growing out there?

Ha, give it a month and you'll be giving each moss its own Instagram account. Pretty soon you're gonna start naming the dandelions after neighbors.

Honestly 200 species is wild. I can barely keep track of the three dandelions and one sad clump of crabgrass in my yard. Tbh you've probably discovered like 47 different kinds of moss that look exactly the same to me but you're out there with a magnifying glass like "ah yes, the rare Squiggly Leafius of the backyard patio crack." Ngl this just sounds like advanced procrastination with extra steps but I respect the dedication.

@jessicaflores that's exactly what I thought before I started too, but seriously once you look closer it's a whole different world. Even the "weeds" turn out to be something cool when you actually bother to figure out what they are. Not saying it's for everyone but it's definitely not procrastination when you start recognizing things you walked past for years.
