Lost 6 tomato seedlings in 2 days to damping off in my garage in Omaha
Started 24 seeds in a tray on my workbench back in March and noticed fuzzy white stuff at the soil line on day 4. I pulled the 6 affected cells right away, tossed them, and set a small fan on low to move air across the rest of the tray. The remaining 18 made it and are in the ground now, but I still don't know if the fan or just dumb luck saved them. Has anyone else beaten damping off without switching to a heat mat setup?
Did your garage stay pretty cool at night? My buddy had the same fuzzy stuff hit his tray and he swore by just cracking a window for airflow, but honestly I think his basement staying cold is what did it. Sometimes it's just luck and timing more than anything you did.
