My worst gardening week ever started with a squirrel and ended with a hose disaster

Last May I had this perfect little herb garden going in my backyard in Austin. Basil, mint, oregano, all doing great. Then one morning I go out and there's a squirrel just sitting in the middle of it, eating my basil like it's a salad bar. I tried to scare it off and it just stared at me. That same week my hose split right at the connector and sprayed mud all over the patio. Took me 20 minutes to even find the shutoff valve because I forgot where it was. Has anyone else had a week where everything went wrong at once?

Had a buddy in Phoenix who spent a whole weekend building raised beds, then a monsoon came through and turned them all into mudslides... just wilted there watching his work wash away.

Man, did he not check the weather? That's rough though, I get it. Phoenix dirt turns to straight concrete when it's dry, then that first monsoon hits and it's like chocolate pudding. He should've let that soil settle for a week before planting, or at least built some cheap drainage. I've seen people lose whole gardens in one storm here.
