Spent $60 on a 'rare' monstera cutting from a Facebook seller, and it was just a regular deliciosa with painted leaves
The seller in Sacramento swore it was a variegated albo and I drove 45 minutes to meet up. Two weeks later the white spots washed off with a wet paper towel, so I basically paid $60 for a $12 plant. Has anyone else gotten burned by a plant seller online, and do you ask for new growth pics now?
Painted leaves? That takes some nerve. I would have lost my mind after driving 45 minutes for that. Always ask for pics of the newest leaf and the stem, not the pretty ones they want you to see. If they won't send fresh shots with a date, walk away.
