Wasted $45 on a 'rare' monstera cutting that was just a regular one

I bought a cutting off a Facebook plant group that the seller said was a 'Monstera Thai Constellation' and I paid $45 for it. Got it in the mail and it looked like a normal Monstera deliciosa with some weird damage, not variegation. After three weeks of watering and hoping, it just grew plain green leaves. Has anyone else gotten burned by mislabeled plant cuttings on these groups?

Oh man, that's rough. It's a shame how some people take advantage of trust in hobby groups like that. I've noticed a pattern where anything with a rare-sounding label gets slapped with a high price, whether it's plants or collectibles, and you have to do your homework or get burned.

Totally agree with you there. Seen it way too many times - someone slaps "rare" or "limited" on something and the price doubles overnight. Gotta do your digging before pulling out the wallet for sure.

Bought a "rare" succulent online once... turned out to be a common weed from my own backyard. Guess the homework skipped me that day.
