Why my peace lily outgrew my neighbor's after switching to filtered water
I used to water all my houseplants with straight tap water from the kitchen sink. My peace lily leaves kept getting brown tips no matter what I did. Started using a basic Brita filter for just the watering can about 6 months ago. The difference is honestly night and day. My neighbor down the street in Greenville waters hers with straight tap and her plant is half the size with way more browning. I'm not saying it's a magic trick but the leaf count went from 12 to 28 since I switched. Has anyone else tried letting tap water sit out overnight or does filtering work better for you?

That "brown tips no matter what I did" line hit home hard, I've been there. I tried the sitting out overnight thing for like two months and it didn't do much for my spider plants honestly. Filtered water made a way bigger difference in just a few weeks. Have you checked what's actually in your tap water? Our town adds chloramine instead of regular chlorine and that stuff doesn't evaporate out if you let it sit. That's probably why the Brita worked so well for you. Your leaf count jump is insane though, 12 to 28 is crazy impressive for six months. I wonder if your neighbor would see the same result or if her tap water has something else going on.
