Bought a $90 laser level for a retaining wall job and it paid for itself in one morning
My line was so dead straight the homeowner asked if I cheated and drew it with a computer, has anyone else had a tool that just made you look like a wizard on site?

Friend of mine grabbed a cheap chalk line reel from a garage sale and it turned out to be some old-school German thing, dead accurate every time. He was framing out a weird angled wall and every line he snapped was so perfect the inspector actually asked to see the tool. Let me tell you, that thing made him look like he'd been framing since birth and he still brags about it.

That 1950s German chalk reel deserves a little shrine in his garage honestly. @hart.cora I had a similar thing happen with a vintage Stanley level I got for three bucks at a flea market. It had that old wooden handle and the bubble was still dead nuts on, I hung a whole run of kitchen cabinets with it and never once had to shim a door. There's just something about those old tools that new ones can't touch, they were made to last.
