Had a homeowner in Boise ask me to skip the weep holes to 'make it look cleaner'

I explained that's a fast track to trapped moisture and a cracked wall in a few winters. Anyone else had to talk a client out of a bad idea that seemed good to them?

Yeah, that's a classic. I always wonder what the thought process is there. Is it just not knowing, or do they think you're trying to upsell them on invisible holes? Had one guy who wanted to seal his attic vents for the same reason, to stop 'drafts'. How do you even start that talk without sounding like you're just shutting them down?

Ugh, I read somewhere that people just feel air moving and assume it's a leak.

Last summer I had a customer absolutely convinced her brand new windows were leaking because she felt a breeze. Turns out it was just the HVAC vent blowing right across the sill! We spent twenty minutes with a tissue paper test before she believed it.
