Hot take: mixing mortar by hand is better than a mixer for small jobs
I was on a chimney repair in Boise and the mixer died halfway through. Had to finish by hand and honestly, the control was better for the tight joints. Anyone else ever go back to the old way by choice?

Really? I find the dust and extra time a real pain. My shoulder can't take it anymore, the mixer is just easier for me.

Totally get that, @lisa5. A mixer is a lifesaver if you have any kind of pain. Do you ever miss the feel of kneading dough by hand, or is it just not worth it?
