Remember when we used to mix mortar by hand on a board instead of using those electric mixers?

I swear I can still feel it in my back from those days, now I just wheel out the mixer and get done in half the time, but has anyone else noticed the newer mortar sets way faster than the old stuff we used?

Honestly my back still hasn't forgiven me for those days.

Used to think people complaining about their backs were just making excuses. Then I spent a summer demoing a basement without a wheelbarrow, just hauling concrete chunks out in buckets. Three months later I was still waking up stiff and sore. Now I get it.

Read somewhere that your back muscles actually compensate for weak core strength, so when you're hauling stuff wrong you're basically asking your spine to do all the work... Makes sense why that kind of labor leaves you wrecked for months afterward.
