Spent $180 on a laser level and it changed my layout game completely
I was doing a big retaining wall job in St. Louis last month and got tired of pulling string lines over and over. Finally broke down and got a self-leveling green beam rotary laser from the local supply house. It cut my layout time by like half on the first day alone. Anyone else make the jump to lasers for big jobs or do you still stick with the old string method?

$180 for a laser level? I paid that for a decent hammer last year.

Right? A decent hammer can set you back that much. I ended up buying a used laser level on Craigslist for forty bucks and it's been totally fine for my projects.

Wait, you paid $180 for a hammer? @eva908 is that thing made of gold or something? I can't imagine dropping that much on a basic tool like that.
