The $220 laser level that gathered dust for a year
Bought a fancy self-leveling laser last spring for a big retaining wall job. Thought it would make everything faster, but the old string line and eyeball method did the same job. I probably used it twice before the batteries died and I forgot where I put it. Now I'm back to the string line and a level, and honestly it's less hassle. Anyone else got a pricey tool that just sits in the van?

Did you really expect a laser to beat good old string, or was that just an excuse to buy a toy?
