Tried buttering the back of the brick instead of the bed and I'm never going back
I mean, maybe it's just me but buttering the bed always left me fighting the brick to sit level, and a guy on a job in Tulsa showed me to hit the back edge instead. The brick drops flat with barely a tap and I stopped chipping corners on my frog. Anyone else butter that way or am I doing something weird here?
My buddy got shown that trick by an old mason and now he swears by it too. Says the brick just kisses the mud and sits dead flat, no wiggle at all. I keep meaning to try it but I always forget until I'm already halfway up the wall.
