Appreciation post: I just read that a single can of chickpeas can make three meals

I was looking at a food blog from a lady in Phoenix about cutting her grocery bill, and she broke down the cost of a 79 cent can of chickpeas. She said you can use the liquid for vegan mayo, roast the beans for a snack, and blend the rest for hummus. I tried it last week and honestly, it worked. I got a snack, a sandwich spread, and a dip for less than a dollar total. It felt like a magic trick with food. What's the best 'stretch one ingredient' trick you guys have found?

Saw a thing about using a whole block of tofu in different ways. Crumble half for a scramble, slice some for a stir fry, and blend the rest with lemon for a creamy dressing. It's all about prepping it differently.

My friend Mark got a huge bag of rice on sale and basically lived off it for a week. He made fried rice with veggies, cooked it into a simple porridge for breakfast, and even used some to thicken a soup. It was kind of amazing how many different meals he got from one cheap bag. He said it taught him to get creative with basics.

That aquafaba trick is a game changer for cheap eats. A whole rotisserie chicken is another one, you can get soup stock, sandwich meat, and a dinner out of it. Makes your grocery money go way further.
