Bought a cheap knife set from a discount store and regretted it within two weeks
I saw a 10 piece knife set for $15 at a discount store last month and thought I was saving a ton of money. Figured knives are knives, right? Well, after the first week the blade on the chef's knife was already chipping when I cut a bell pepper. By the second week the handle on the paring knife literally came loose in my hand while I was slicing an onion. I ended up throwing the whole set in the trash and spent $30 on one decent chef's knife from a kitchen supply store that actually holds an edge. So I lost $15 and a couple of weeks of frustration. Has anyone else had bad luck with those super cheap knife sets or found one that actually works?

@valh32 I'm just wondering what brand it was so I can steer clear myself.

Wait, your knife got chipped cutting a bell pepper? That's a new level of bad. I've had some cheap kitchen stuff fall apart before but that's almost impressive.

Wow that's honestly genuinely impressive, I've never seen a vegetable destroy a knife before. Maybe it was secretly a decorative knife and nobody told you...
