Found a weird markup trick at a grocery store in Tulsa that made me rethink my whole weekly shopping trip

I noticed the store was charging $2 more for the same bag of rice in the "ethnic foods" aisle compared to the regular baking aisle last Tuesday, and I'm wondering if anyone else has caught stores doing this kind of sneaky pricing on budget staples?

Did you check the unit price? I found the same thing with flour at my store.

Man, you nailed it. I got tripped up the other day buying a big bag of sugar, thought I was getting a deal until I actually did the math and saw the smaller bag was way cheaper per pound. It's like they're banking on people just grabbing the bulk size without thinking.

My friend Sarah got caught with this at Costco last week. She grabbed this huge tub of almond butter thinking it was the smarter buy, but when she got home and actually looked at the price per ounce, the smaller jars were like 40 cents less per ounce. She was so mad she called me to vent about it. She said the big tub felt like a win in the moment but it was literally the worst deal in the entire aisle. And now she's stuck with this giant container that's gonna go bad before she finishes it. So yeah, stores def count on people not stopping to check.
