Hit my 50th freezer meal prep last Sunday and I'm still not sold on the whole thing

Everyone raves about spending one day a month making 20 freezer meals to save money, but after 50 preps over 4 months I think it's overrated. I spent $45 on ingredients for 8 meals and the texture on the chicken ones was just off every time. Has anyone else found that the "savings" don't really add up when you factor in the extra spices and freezer bags?

Look, I did 12 meals in one go back in March and ended up throwing 4 of them out because the chicken had that weird rubbery thing going on too. The math people throw around never accounts for buying a new box of gallon bags every other prep because you can't reuse them without getting mystery freezer burn taste. Plus I spent $12 just on different seasoning blends to try to fix the blandness problem. By the time I added it all up, I could have just bought fast food value menu combos for about the same price and not had to eat sad, soggy enchilada casserole on a Tuesday.

The gallon bag tax is so real nobody talks about. I swear I've spent enough on Ziplocs to fund a small country's GDP. And yeah, $12 on spices just to end up with mediocre chicken sounds about right. Did you at least get a decent sauce out of it or was it a total wash?
