I saw a guy at the Denver food bank using canned mackerel in a pasta sauce and it looked amazing.
He mixed a $1.50 can of mackerel with a jar of cheap marinara, some garlic powder, and red pepper flakes over spaghetti, and it was a solid protein-packed meal for maybe $3 total.

Hell yeah, that's the only way to do it sometimes. I made this killer pasta last week with just garlic, olive oil, and the cheap parmesan in the green can, and it was amazing. Felt like a real win when you make something great for like three bucks total.

Totally! I had a can of chickpeas and some spices last month and made the best roasted chickpeas ever. Ate them over rice with some lemon, cost maybe two dollars for two meals. Feels so good to beat the system like that.
