I was buying name brand beans for years until my neighbor pointed it out
I mean, I always grabbed the Goya cans for like $1.89 each, thinking it was just how it was. Then my neighbor Frank saw my grocery bag and straight up asked why I was paying double for the same thing. I switched to the store brand at Food Lion for 89 cents a can and honestly, I can't tell a single difference in my chili. Has anyone else had a moment like that with a basic ingredient?

My mom called me out on the same thing with black beans a few years back. She showed me the price difference at our local Kroger and I almost choked on my coffee. The name brand was $1.79 and the store brand was 99 cents, both exactly the same weight and ingredients. I did a blind taste test at home with my husband and we both picked the store brand actually. Now I buy everything generic except for a few things like real maple syrup and vanilla extract. You save so much over a year, it's really worth checking the labels.
