My aunt called me out for wasting money on canned beans
I used to always buy canned black beans for my tacos and soups because they were just easier. My aunt watched me dump a can in my chili and asked how much I spent per week on them. Turns out I was dropping like $12 a week on cans when a $2 bag of dried beans makes way more. She showed me how to soak them overnight and cook a big batch on Sunday. Now I freeze portions in ziplock bags and it saves me over $40 a month. Has anyone else gotten roasted by a relative for a habit that was costing them way more than they thought?

Oh man, I got roasted so bad by my mom for buying pre-shredded cheese when a block is literally half the price. She was right and I still feel dumb about it.

Bro "she was right" hits different when your mom is holding up the price tags lol. I did the same thing last month and my mom gave me this look like I just failed a basic life test. I bought a bag of shredded cheddar for like $4 when the block was $2.50. I felt so dumb when she showed me the difference. Now I just buy blocks and shred it myself. It takes two extra minutes and saves me money every time. My mom was right too and I hate admitting that.

Man my mom got me good on something similar too. She saw me buying those little pre-made packs of taco seasoning for like $1.50 each and she just laughed. She pulled out her spice cabinet and showed me she mixes her own with chili powder cumin and garlic powder for pennies. I felt so dumb. @hugo825 you're spot on about that look they give you like you failed a basic life test. I tried her recipe once and honestly it tasted way better than the store packets. Now I just mix up a big batch in a little jar and it lasts me months. It's one of those things where I wish I had just listened to her years ago.
