My neighbor in Tulsa handed me a bag of pinto beans and I'm rethinking my whole grocery list
My neighbor Carol caught me carrying two bags of fast food in from my truck last Tuesday and gave me this look. Then she went inside and came back out with a 2 pound bag of dry pinto beans and said "try feeding yourself on this for a week for $1.79." I laughed it off at first because who has time to soak beans overnight. But she showed me her receipt from the Warehouse Market on 11th and it was $1.79 for the whole bag. That's like eight meals if you add some rice and an onion. I did the math on my fast food runs and I was burning $63 a week just on dinners because I was too tired after work to cook anything. So I tried the beans. Cooked a big pot Sunday, ate on it all week with different stuff in it. Not gonna lie, it got boring by Thursday but I wasn't broke on Friday either. What do you all keep around that's cheap but doesn't feel like punishment by day four?
