My sister called my cheap meal plan 'sad' and it got me thinking
We were at her place in Denver and I said my main dinner was a $3 bean and rice bowl I make four nights a week. She said 'That sounds so sad, you're just eating to fill a hole.' I've always been proud of saving money, but her saying that made me wonder if I'm missing out on real food joy for the sake of a budget. Do you ever feel like being too cheap with food makes eating a chore?

Honestly, that bean and rice bowl sounds smart, not sad... it's cheap, it's protein, it fills you up. Saving that money every week adds up to something real, like a trip or a new tool, instead of just another fancy meal. Finding joy in your bank account growing can feel just as good as a fancy dinner.

Right? My bank account is the only thing getting a five-star meal these days. Watching those numbers go up is its own kind of fancy dinner, just without the weird tiny plate. It's a different kind of full feeling.

Wait, $3 for a whole dinner? How do you even do that? @the_cole is right though, watching your savings grow is a real meal. Your sister just doesn't get it lol.
